Blog Defined

Did you ever wonder what a blog is when you first heard of it? For me, what came to mind was a journal you keep on the web that other people can read. And so that was when I got interested with LiveJournal. The designs wasn't so cool then so I did not last long there writing my thoughts. My purpose before was to have a journal to chronicle events in my life. I was thinking I had some memory problem and I do not want to wake up one day not remembering anything about yesterday or the other day.

But what really is a blog? Blog is like a website with a personal touch; like a dairy was converted into a web site. In fact, it started as an online diary. The early bloggers include a college student Justin Hall. The first full-time blogger title was given to Steve Gibson on the 8th of February 1998.

On the technical side it is defined as a collection of texts, images, links to other web pages and other media related to its topic. Blog is already a shortened form of the word weblog.

Blogs can be written by a single person called a blogger. By now, multiple bloggers for one blog site is possible. Blogs now carry the option of having your blog read by the public or simply by the people you want to. When it is open to other people other than those close to you, your blog is said to be public. And when it is restricted to your friends then it is considered private.

When you keep a blog, it is dated and archived according to months or weeks (it is entirely up to you). Your latest post will be the first one seen by your visitor. A blog demands that you post regularly. Together with your post or articles you can include photos and/or videos.

So what is a blog again? It is an online journal complete with picture or video tackling any topic the blogger wished.

OpenShot Add Text: Subtitles and Captions

OpenShot is an open source video editing soft. Adding subtitles and captions is quite tricky. Adding subtitles takes effort. Suggestions by GeekOutdoors - You can have the soundwave form displayed so you know where the talking and pausing occurs. - You also use the green marker to help you decide how long the subtitle should be shown. - Encode the subtitles in Notepad so you can easily copy and paste it later on - Turn off the snapping tool which is on by default; to remove subtitle overlap For captions, GeekOutdoors, - used footer text, shortened the duration to like 3 seconds - if you want advanced editing of the text, you will need to download and link Inkscape to OpenShot Check out  basic OpenShot tutorial  or  list of OpenShot tutorial .
