It hurts when you have been expecting somethings and it doesn't come. When that happens you look back and recall where the mistake lies.
At the beginning you may rationalize that something better will come. Or that there are others like you.
If you become frustrated, let it be but only for a day; move on.
Sure people with good grades make it to the top but there are also those with less than a pleasant resume who make it to the top too. Or the other way around, great people will fail as an ordinary person.
Steve Jobs, when he spoke before graduates of Standaford University in 2005, said to connect the dots backward: "...trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future." So if you fail now, it will serve its purpose later; And so Steve Jobs after leaving college went to on to design the Mac, a computer a beautiful typography.
In the same speech, Steve Jobs mentions about love and loss. You will never be a loser in things you love.
