Blogs are the IN thing now. And futurist predicts that in the next 10 years or so companies will be directly connecting with their consumers through blogging. Jonathan Schwartz, CEO Sun Microsystems, once said 'In ten years, most of us will communicate directly with customers, employees, and the broader business community through blogs. For executives, having a blog is not going to be a matter of choice, any more than using e-mail is today. If you’re not part of the conversation, others will speak on your behalf—and I’m not talking about your employees.'

The consolation of blogging to the companies is that it
- Help us to change our brand-positioning
- Improve employee morale
- Generate more traffic to our websites
- Generate more PR
- Connect us to key thought leaders
- Give sales people something to talk about!
- Be interested. Comment on what other folks are saying. Join networks. Distribute and link to content. Participate!

- Be careful. You can’t control the conversation but you do need some oversight. Set policies for content and comments.
- Be patient. Conversations are ongoing and take time to develop. Be willing to stay in for the long haul.
